2025 Fishing Competition

With the final competition of the season cancelled due to low water levels at Chew & Blagdon, and no other venues with any more water, the committee decided to close the competition for the year and there was no change to the leaderboard, with the Championship going to Terry Feest (our 2023 Champion) with 31lbs 1oz. There was a tie for second place  (23lb 8oz) between 2024 champion Steve Coles, Bob South and Dave Price, with Jim McLaughlin (21lb 1oz) in fifth place.  The prize for the heaviest fish of the season also goes to Terry, with his 6lbs monster from Hawkridge. His prizes will be awarded once he returns from his winter break in New Zealand.

The reports of the three competition days are:

.The bank fishing competition was held at Hawkridge Reservoir on March 5th.  Several members bagged up early, including Steve Coles who won the prize for the biggest total catch.  Terry Feest won the prize for the biggest fish.

There was a successful day on Chew on April 28th, when 67lbs of fish were recorded (about 21 fish).  Terry scored heavily with his beloved snakes.  Whilst most people that day stuck to the more traditional patterns for feeding fish, buzzers & nymphs, at least two members eventually turned to the snake!  Dave Price scooped the biggest fish prize with his 3lb 12 oz Rainbow (also caught on a snake).

The fishing competition at Llandegfedd Reservoir on Tuesday 16th October yielded few fish.  The conditions were difficult, with low water levels, warm temperatures and full sun.  Nick Boyd had three fish and won the prize for the biggest catch at 4lb 8oz.  Bob South had one fish, but won the prize for the biggest fish at 2lb 7oz .  Two other members had one fish each, all others blanked.
